Boom-Bust Cycle & Chronic Pain

What is it, why does it happen, how to prevent this?

Boom Phase - When a person is feeling relatively good and pushes to complete as many tasks, this can include cleaning, errands and exercise.

This then brings on the Bust Phase - Your body responds with heightened pain, fatigue, or other symptoms forcing the person into rest and inactivity causing the Crash Phase which in some cases can last hours, days or weeks.

People living with chronic pain often want to make the most of their “good days” or feel pressure to catch up on things. Pushing to complete tasks such as cleaning, errands & exercising. This overexertion often exceeds their physical or emotional limits. The lack of pacing leads to overloading the nervous system & perpetuating the pain cycle.

Breaking this cycle is the key to finding balance and preventing the crash phase while reducing nasty flare-ups! Our best tip? Learning to PACE yourself.
